The holidays are coming!!
The Festive Holidays are upon us – a time of celebrating the true meaning of Christmas and giving to those we love and making our lives joyful!
For those of us in Maine, the holidays are a special time as we share the blessings of family and friends and enjoy holiday festivals! The world has been reeling for two years with the pandemic. This year people are ready to celebrate the meaning of cultural holidays focused on peace, joy, and love through their hearts. The heart of a horse is a special place where a relationship and bond develop throughout time. My horse, SandyBoy, shares his love of people with everyone he meets. It is so rewarding when he recognizes me and wants to be with me and hopefully not just for his favorite treats that I bring!! He brings me so much joy in the midst of so much uncertainty in the world.
It is also a time of year to remember those who are alone or those whom we have lost. The statistics from Covid deaths and drug overdoses can overwhelm us with despair. The joy of our individual cultural celebrations can become mired in pessimism about life in general and for the new year! I will believe in the light that comes from above that provides the true joy and hope for the future. Each individual can make a holiday difference in the life of at least one less fortunate person. Such is the gift people really need to uplift them and give them joy and the courage to face life with a more hopeful spirit.
When the snowflakes begin to fall, they will remind me of the abundance and beauty of the blessings we daily receive. Horses love the snow! When they are brought out of the barn, the first thing they do is roll in the snow. They can make the greatest horse angels in the snow! Horses love to kick up their heels and play with one another in their paddocks! SandyBoy is an older gentleman, but the snow brings out the young horse in him. Sometimes as we get a bit older, we miss the joy of the season. It is easy to get caught up in memories and miss the present. Memories are wonderful, but the future has awesome potential! So here is a toast to a wonderful holiday season, however you celebrate it……and to unfolding adventures in 2022!!
